Stockbroker Nihat Özçelik, who had previously undergone a police investigation on charges of manipulation in the stock market, was detained this morning. Özçelik was arrested by the magistrate court to which he was referred. HE WAS DETAINED YESTERDAYTeams from the Istanbul Organized Crime Fighting Branch had detained stockbroker Nihat Özçelik as part of an ongoing investigation. Özçelik was detained on December 16 on charges of 'threat' and 'blackmail' and was arrested after the judicial interrogation. HE WAS BEING TRIED WITH A REQUEST FOR UP TO 38 YEARS IN PRISONÖzçelik was being tried with a request for up to 38 years in prison for allegedly bribing a law enforcement officer and attempting to influence those performing judicial duties, based on a previous investigation against him.
