FBI: The New Orleans attacker acted alone.

In New Orleans, Louisiana, a 42-year-old assailant named Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a pickup truck into a crowd yesterday, and the investigation into the attack is ongoing.

"THIS WAS A TERRORIST ACT"

Christopher Raia from the FBI's Counterterrorism Unit emphasized during a press conference that the attack was "a terrorist act." Contrary to what was announced yesterday, Raia stated that "the attacker acted alone," saying, "At this time, we do not believe anyone other than Shamsud-Din Jabbar was involved in this attack." Raia also referred to the explosion that occurred in a Tesla vehicle in front of Donald Trump's hotel in Las Vegas, stating, "As you know, there is also an FBI investigation in Las Vegas. We are following all possible leads. However, at this point, there is no definitive connection between the attack in New Orleans and the incident in Las Vegas."

"INSPIRED BY ISIS 100%"

Raia noted that security camera footage showed that the New Orleans attacker, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, placed two homemade explosive devices in the Bourbon Street area hours before the attack, stating, "Both devices were rendered safe at the scene." Raia added, "What I can tell you right now is that he was 100% inspired by ISIS. We are researching social media and his further interviews. We are trying to find a way to gather a bit more information about this connection by working with our other partners," he said. Raia also stated that the death toll from the attack was 14, with 35 injured, explaining that the previously reported count of 15 dead included the assailant who died in a shootout with the police.

On the other hand, FBI Special Agent Alethea Duncan stated during the press conference held yesterday that they did not believe the attacker acted alone, saying, "We do not believe Jabbar is solely responsible. The 37-year-old driver, Matthew Livelsberger, was killed, and seven others were injured. It was reported that a fire broke out in the vehicle before the explosion occurred.
