The female doctor, reacting to patients and their relatives persistently mistaking her for a nurse and to the difficulty of convincing them that she is a physician, complained about sexist prejudices even when she stated her profession, saying, "Women can be doctors too, just so you know."

A female doctor reacted to being persistently treated as a "nurse" by patients and their relatives, even though she wears the same clothes and does the same work as her colleagues.

"EVEN AFTER I SAY I'M A DOCTOR, THEY DON'T BELIEVE ME"

Expressing her discomfort with the situation, the female doctor noted that they are often approached with requests such as "The IV has run out, can you remove it?" and said: "There is something very disturbing. We wear the same clothes, we do the same work, but men are still considered doctors, while we are not. We are definitely nurses, I mean, there's no chance of convincing you otherwise. I say, 'No, I can't attend to that, I'm a doctor, do you understand?' There are those who insist even after I say I'm a doctor. Okay, let's say you didn't know, something happened; after that, you still can't convince them. They say, 'Oh, were you a doctor?'"

"WOMEN CAN BE DOCTORS TOO, JUST SO YOU KNOW"

Complaining about sexist prejudices in society, the doctor concluded her reaction with the words: "In your world, only men can be doctors, yes, that's definitely what you think, I'm aware, but no. Women can be doctors too. They can, I mean, just so you know. Let that be a piece of information for you, that's all."
