Fergani Space Technologies, founded by Selçuk Bayraktar, launched its sixth test satellite, FRG-100D4, developed with domestic capabilities, into space from the US. The 160-kilogram satellite, sent aboard a SpaceX rocket, successfully settled into its target orbit at an altitude of 590 kilometers. The satellite, developed with an AI-supported computer and domestic hardware, marked an important stage in Fergani's goal of establishing an independent navigation and communication network consisting of more than 200 satellites within 5 years.

Fergani Space Technologies, founded by Baykar Chairman of the Board and Technology Leader Selçuk Bayraktar, sent its sixth test satellite FRG-100D4, developed with national engineering capability, into space from the US Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

According to a statement by Baykar, the satellite, launched as part of SpaceX's Bandwagon-5 mission, successfully separated from the launch vehicle approximately 63 minutes after launch, at 15:07 Turkey time, and settled into its target orbit at an altitude of 590 kilometers.

NEW NATIONAL EQUIPMENT ON THE SATELLITE

FRG-100D4 represents a significant advancement compared with satellites previously launched by Fergani, with the technological innovations it contains.

Critical components developed entirely nationally within Fergani were used on the satellite, such as a reaction wheel, magnetic torque rod, magnetometer, IMU, GNSS receiver, steerable solar panels, battery pack, regenerative modem, and phased array antenna. In addition, the satellite includes an AI-supported computer for advanced missions.

The space validation of national avionics equipment developed by Fergani engineers and the acquisition of space heritage for these technologies are important for Turkey's full independence in space technologies.

NEW STAGE IN THE ULUĞ BEY SATELLITE CONSTELLATION PROJECT

FRG-100D4, the satellite with the highest power generation capacity developed by Fergani, represents an important stage in the localization of equipment and subsystems.

The FRG-100D4 satellite, with a mass of 160 kilograms, was sent into space as an important step toward realizing the Uluğ Bey Satellite Constellation System, with its equipment having a higher domestic content ratio and its improved navigation and broadband communication payloads.

Fergani Space aims to complete the Uluğ Bey Satellite Constellation System, which will consist of more than 200 satellites, entirely with its own resources within 5 years.

When this satellite constellation system is realized, Turkey will have its own independent navigation and communication network and will be able to share this critical capability with friendly and brotherly geographies. While the constellation satellites are being completed on the one hand, development work on the national launch vehicle continues on the other.

SIX SPACECRAFT IN TWO YEARS

With FRG-100D4, Fergani Space, which has sent its sixth satellite into space, continues to consolidate its role in space through work carried out since the beginning of 2025.

Fergani's space journey began with the launch of the first satellite in the series, FGN-100-D1, in January 2025, after which FGN-100-D2 took its place in orbit on November 2, 2025.

This process was followed by the sending into space of the Orbital Transfer Vehicle (FGN-TUG-S01), which has a hybrid propulsion system, on November 28, 2025.

FGN-TUG-S01, which performed the first orbit-raising maneuver in space with its innovative hybrid engine technology and successfully separated the FRG-10D1 CubeSat it carried, was an important step for Turkey's in-space logistics capability.

The fifth spacecraft developed by Fergani, FGN-100-D3, was sent into space on March 29, 2026.
