Fire disaster in Abkhazia: 5 siblings lost their lives.

It has been reported that 5 siblings lost their lives in a house fire in the Gali district of Abkhazia, which declared unilateral independence from Georgia.

5 SIBLINGS LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE FIRE

In a written statement, Davit Verava, the Governor of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region of Georgia, stated that a fire broke out in a house in the village of Saberio, located in the Gali district of Abkhazia, which declared unilateral independence from his country. Verava noted that 5 children, who had gone to the village of Saberio as guests with their families from the Zugdidi region controlled by the Tbilisi government, lost their lives in the fire.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President Mikheil Kavelaşvili also shared condolence messages on their social media accounts for the children who lost their lives in the fire.

THE ABKHAZIA AND SOUTH OSSETIA ISSUE

There was a war between the Georgian army and Abkhaz separatists supported by Russia for 13 months from 1992 to 1993. Conflicts known as the South Ossetia War broke out between Russia and Georgia in 2008, and after the war, the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, supported by Russia, declared unilateral independence from Georgia.

In 2008, Russia recognized the so-called independence of these two regions, and in response, Georgia severed diplomatic relations with Moscow. After the severance of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Switzerland took on a mediating role between the parties.
