FIRE BROKE OUT IN FEMALE STUDENT DORMITORY
The fire broke out around 20:00 at the Şule Yüksel Şenler Female Student Dormitory located on Deliçay 1 Street, Yenidoğan Neighborhood, Talas district. Upon notification by those who saw smoke rising from the 4th floor of the 9-story student dormitory, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the address.
STUDENTS EVACUATED
The fire was extinguished in a short time by the efforts of fire crews. After the fire, the dormitory was evacuated as a precaution. Work began to clear the smoke inside the building. Meanwhile, an announcement was made that students could go to nearby businesses. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
"OUR HUMAN DUTY"
Dursun Özdemir, who runs a business under the dormitory building, stated that due to the heavy rain, they invited the students to their establishment. He said, "Citizens passing by our business informed us that there was a fire upstairs. We took the children coming out of the building inside. We didn't want them to get cold. We are offering tea. They had gotten out of bed and come out in their pajamas. We understand that once the dormitory is ventilated, the children will be taken back to their dormitory."
