The leaked WhatsApp messages of CHP Mayor İlkay Çiçek, who was detained in an operation against bribery and corruption targeting İzmir Menderes Municipality, have become the top agenda in Türkiye. Against the messages allegedly containing plans to flee abroad with bribe money and highly inappropriate content, the mayor's wife, Melek Çiçek, denied the claims and defended that it was a conspiracy.
Within the scope of the extensive bribery and extortion investigation conducted at Izmir Menderes Municipality, many people, including Mayor Ilkay Cicek, were detained. While the repercussions of the legal process continue, WhatsApp messages allegedly made with his lover, Cicek, who is married and the father of two children, were leaked.
In the messages leaked to the press, it was seen that the couple mutually shared inappropriate below-the-belt images, and also that Cicek used sexual and homosexual slurs towards male and female personnel working at the municipality.

In the message records that emerged, the dialogues in which Mayor Cicek planned to flee abroad with his lover using money allegedly obtained from the bribery racket and confessed that he conducted municipal affairs through intermediaries were reflected in the media as follows:
His Lover: My love, I am so jealous of you. I am even jealous of your wife. Do not neglect the municipality, my love.
Ilkay Cicek: My eyes see only you, baby. Where did you get the municipality from?
His Lover: But it is our future, my love. Do not expose yourself while trying to save money, my love. I am so scared, my bull.
Ilkay Cicek: Do not worry, let me save a little more money. Let me send you abroad. Abroad, it will be just you and me. Do not worry, I run all the business through Murat Tasdemir and Ruzgar. I am using these fools.
"ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE" DEFENSE FROM THE MAYOR'S WIFE
After the nauseating allegations and messages received wide coverage in the press, Ilkay Cicek's wife, Melek Cicek, appeared before the cameras and made statements. Arguing that what happened was a slander campaign and that the messages did not reflect the truth, Melek Cicek stood by her husband and used the following expressions:
"I want the false news prepared with artificial intelligence to come to an end. Put your hand on your conscience, I have two children. I want justice to prevail, and my trust in my husband is infinite."
