In the investigation into the death of 4-year-old Yunus Emre Yakar, who was taken to the hospital in Afyonkarahisar with a complaint of falling from a height and lost his fight for life, a striking development occurred. Within the scope of the murder investigation deepened by the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT), five family members, including the child's mother and stepfather, were taken into custody.

The blood-curdling incident occurred on January 24, 2026, in the town of Işıklar, affiliated with the central district of Afyonkarahisar. Four-year-old Yunus Emre Yakar was brought to Afyon Health Sciences University Hospital unconscious by his mother Zehra K. and grandfather Mithat K. Family members claimed to hospital officials that the young child had fallen from a height. The unfortunate child, who was found to have a brain hemorrhage during initial medical examinations, was promptly referred to Kütahya City Hospital after emergency intervention. However, young Yunus Emre could not hold on to life despite all the doctors' efforts and passed away.

CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS UNCOVERED MURDER SUSPICION

Immediately after the suspicious death, gendarmerie teams launched a comprehensive investigation. Following detailed crime scene examinations in the area where the child was alleged to have fallen and after taking the initial statements of family members, the case was transferred to the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) operating under the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Gendarmerie Command. As a result of meticulous work by experienced JASAT detectives who took over the case, serious inconsistencies and contradictions were identified in the statements given by family members regarding the time of the incident and its aftermath.

Acting on the findings and major contradictions in the statements, gendarmerie teams pressed the operation button on suspicion that the incident was not an accident but murder. During the operation, mother Zehra K., stepfather Balı K., grandfather Mithat K., grandmother Aysel K., and another family member whose name has not yet been disclosed were detained. After health checks, the suspects were taken to the police station and completely left journalists' questions about murder allegations unanswered. It was reported that the five detained family members would be referred to court after their interrogations at the prosecutor's office were completed.
