Emphasizing his innocence, Güneş said, "It is unacceptable that the truth is being distorted to create a completely different perception of me in the public eye. Targeting Galatasaray deeply saddened me, and I will fully exercise my legal rights."
Maruf Güneş's statement is as follows:
"On July 17, 2026, within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention order was issued against me, my statement was taken, and on July 20, 2026, I was released under judicial control.
First of all, I want the public to know that the allegations made against me during my detention process, especially on social media and various platforms, do not reflect the truth in any way.
Despite this, it is unacceptable that the facts are being distorted to create a completely different perception of me in the public eye.
The mention of my name in such an investigation and the targeting of Galatasaray Sports Club, of which I am immensely proud to be a member, has deeply saddened me. Throughout my life, I have never engaged in any behavior that would cause my family, colleagues, or community to hang their heads in shame. I express this today with the same peace of conscience.
My trust in Turkish justice is complete. I believe that at the end of the investigation, all truths will come to light, and the unfair perception created in the public eye will completely disappear.
On the other hand, I also inform the public that I will fully exercise all my legal rights against those who target me, my family, and Galatasaray Sports Club by presenting non-existent issues in the file and making allegations that have no connection with reality.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our President, our board members, my colleagues, and the great Galatasaray community, who have stood by me and not withheld their support and trust during this process.
