Following the torrential rain that was effective in the Kozan district of Adana, two people in a car caught in the flood jumped out of the vehicle. One person swept away in the floodwaters lost their life.
After the torrential rain and hail that intensified in the evening hours in the Kozan district of Adana, the Tabak Stream overflowed. Due to the flooding, the connection roads at the Döşeme location of Karabuzağı Neighborhood on the Bucak road were covered with water and mud, closing to traffic. Some vehicles on the road were stranded by the floodwaters.
SWEPT AWAY BY FLOODWATERS
The car driven by Alper Büyükdoğan was swept away by the current. Büyükdoğan and his friend Kamber Ünüvar jumped out of the vehicle in panic. While Büyükdoğan held onto a wire, Kamber Ünüvar was swept away and disappeared.
ONE PERSON LOST HIS LIFE
Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. The teams arriving at the scene took the injured Alper Büyükdoğan to the hospital. Kamber Ünüvar was found in a citrus grove 2 kilometers from where he fell. Health teams determined that Ünüvar had lost his life.
Describing the moments of terror, Alper Büyükdoğan said, "I opened my friend's door for him to jump; first he, then I jumped. I held onto a wire, but my friend couldn't hold on and was swept away by the flood."
