According to a report by French channel BFMTV, a person who was there during the incident stated that Glucksmann would receive only 2 percent of the votes in the presidential elections. It is not known whether this person is the one who covered Glucksmann in flour.

REACTION FROM THE GOVERNMENT

French Government Spokesperson Maud Bregeon reacted to the flour thrown at Glucksmann, stating that no violence, even symbolic, is acceptable in public debates.

Bregeon stated that verbal violence was followed by physical violence and claimed that the left-wing France Unbowed (LFI) Party pursues a strategy of turning everything into conflict.

HE RECEIVED 66 PERCENT OF THE VOTES IN THE PRIMARY

The primary held to determine the name who will represent the social democrats in the presidential election to be held in France next year ended yesterday.

In the primary, which was held online and lasted 3 days, Glucksmann received 66 percent of the votes and became the social democrats' presidential candidate.

In the election, in which approximately 120 thousand people consisting of members of social democratic parties voted, Glucksmann competed against Socialist Party (PS) General Secretary Olivier Faure, PS MP Jerome Guedj, founder of the Socialist and Republican Left Party Emmanuel Maurel, and the socialists' 2007 presidential candidate Segolene Royal.

HE AVOIDS DESCRIBING WHAT HAPPENED IN GAZA AS "GENOCIDE"

In France, where the far right increased its votes in the last elections, Glucksmann is not favorable to center-leftists forming an alliance with the far left in the presidential election.

Glucksmann also differs from socialists and far-leftists in his approach to the Palestinian issue. Avoiding describing what happened in Gaza as "genocide," Glucksmann draws attention to the fight against anti-Semitism in France.
