President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey has mobilized all its resources regarding the capsizing of a passenger ship carrying 267 people off the coast of Girne. Noting that a large-scale operation was launched in cooperation with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus authorities immediately after the accident, Erdogan emphasized that search and rescue efforts are continuing uninterrupted to reach the missing in the region.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made statements regarding the passenger ship that capsized off the coast of Girne in the TRNC, during the National Defense University Military Academies Diploma and Standard Handover Ceremony held at the Turkish Military Academy. Erdogan announced that 237 passengers and crew members were rescued alive and 7 people lost their lives in the search and rescue operations carried out following the accident.
"237 PASSENGERS AND CREW RESCUED SAFELY"
Erdogan stated that comprehensive search and rescue operations were initiated in cooperation with the TRNC authorities immediately after the accident, and said that the teams' efforts are ongoing.
Erdogan said, "As a result of these efforts, 237 passengers and crew members were rescued safely, but unfortunately, 7 of our brothers and sisters lost their lives."
SEARCH CONTINUES FOR THE MISSING
Erdogan stated that search efforts continue uninterrupted to reach the missing people after the accident, and said, "We hope to receive good news from these efforts, God willing."
