Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in his statement regarding the call for disarmament made by the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, said, "The call should be heeded. It should be seen as a historic opportunity." Fidan also stated that the resolution process in 2013 ended due to external actors influencing the organization.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated regarding the process of the terrorist organization PKK laying down arms, "The call made should be heeded. It should be seen as a historic opportunity. The organization knows very well who the regional actors are that misled it in 2013."
Minister Fidan answered journalists' questions during a live broadcast on TV100. Responding to questions about the call for laying down arms by the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Fidan said, "The call from İmralı stated that the founder of the organization should dissolve itself. This is actually a matter that aligns with the current realities. In a country like Turkey, where democracy is sovereign, there is no justification for arms. It is important for this to come to an end."
"WE HOPE THEY HEED THIS CALL"
Fidan, who said, "We hope they heed this call. We have been saying this as a state for years," added, "When there is an opportunity to engage in politics in Turkey, there can only be one reason for people to use arms: it can be explained by being an enemy to this country."
2013 REMINDER
Speaking about the 2013 Resolution Process, Fidan noted that the process ended due to the organization being deceived, stating, "This process began in 2013. However, they deceived the organization by showing that there were certain opportunities in Syria. The organization knows very well who the regional actors are that misled it. We have defeated the organization. We have suppressed it in Iraq, and we are on top of it in Syria. Turkey is far ahead compared to ten years ago."
"A HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY"
Minister Fidan, who stated that the call in question is a historic opportunity, said, "The call made should be heeded. It should be seen as a historic opportunity. Because the cadres managing the leadership of the organization outside had the ability to give instructions. However, it was not up to them to make certain decisions. It is important for the founding will to give such an instruction."
