A forest fire broke out in Zafer Mahallesi, between the districts of Gaziemir and Buca in Izmir. The flames, which were also intervened from the air with 7 planes and 16 helicopters, approached Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport. Due to the rising smoke, there were delays in flight schedules and some planes were redirected to nearby airports.

A fire broke out in the forested area in Zafer Mahallesi between Gaziemir and Buca districts for reasons yet to be determined. Upon notification, 7 planes, 16 helicopters, 35 fire trucks, 11 water supply vehicles, 4 bulldozers, 4 ground teams, and numerous firefighters from the General Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the area.
FIRE APPROACHING THE AIRPORT
Due to the fire, beehives and small livestock pens in the area are being evacuated. Teams continue their efforts to bring the fire under control, which is approaching the Air Force Technical Schools Command and Sarnıç Picnic Area.
DISRUPTION IN FLIGHTS
Due to the fire being in close proximity to Adnan Menderes Airport and the rising smoke, there are disruptions in flight operations. It has been reported that some flights have been delayed and some aircraft destined for the airport have been redirected to nearby airports.
MSB DISPATCHES 5 HELICOPTERS
The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has announced that 5 helicopters belonging to the Land Forces Command have been dispatched to support firefighting efforts in Gaziemir, Izmir. The statement on the ministry's social media account read, "3 AS-532 and 2 CH-47 helicopters belonging to the Land Forces Command have been dispatched to support firefighting efforts in Gaziemir, Izmir."
