REACHED RESIDENTIAL AREAS YESTERDAY
The fire broke out for an undetermined reason last evening in the forested area of Kazıklı-Bozbük in Gürçamlar neighborhood. Intensified by the wind, the flames spread rapidly overnight across a wide area, reaching the Kaplankaya region with luxury villas and hotels. Forest workers and firefighting teams dispatched from surrounding districts fought fiercely against the flames throughout the night.
To stop the fire's advance at critical points, a backfire technique was implemented. With daylight, aerial vehicles were redeployed, intensifying efforts both from the air and on the ground. The intensive extinguishing efforts yielded results. The General Directorate of Forestry announced that the fire has been largely brought under control.
BURNED AREAS CAPTURED BY DRONE
The areas where the flames were extinguished were filmed by drone. The forest fire turned the combination of green cover and blue sea into black. Approximately 850 hectares burned, with 600 hectares being forest and 250 hectares being titled and agricultural land. It was reported that teams continue extinguishing and cooling operations in the region.
