Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in his statement on the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, said that FETÖ has lost its value for use but continues its struggle against the state and President Erdoğan in cooperation with international dirty power centers. Fidan also stated that he would embark on a 10-hour train journey to Kiev and would continue their efforts to stop the war in Ukraine.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, in his statement on the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, stated that FETÖ is a structure whose utility value has expired, saying, "Despite this, it continues its struggle against the state and the leader elected by the people. In doing so, it is also in cooperation with international dirty power centers."
"JULY 15" MESSAGE FROM POLAND
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan made statements to the press at the train station in the city of Przemysl, Poland. Beginning his speech by addressing the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, Minister Fidan evaluated the period since 2016. Stating that the state and the nation entered into a new struggle for independence on July 15 and thereafter, Fidan said that heavy blows were struck against terrorist networks inside and outside, especially FETÖ. Fidan stated that the state, purged of FETÖ, quickly returned to its original codes and began serving the nation.
"SUCH STRUCTURES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE PLACE WITHIN THE SYSTEM AGAIN"
Emphasizing that the strengthening of the nation's unwavering will under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan played a major role in cleansing FETÖ from the system, Fidan said, "Hopefully, the measures we will take and the regulations we will make will ensure that such structures will not take place within the system again, neither today nor in the future. All our efforts are in this direction."
Fidan stated that in his previous duties, they fought against FETÖ in a different framework, and in his current role, they work day and night to ensure that the organization cannot find refuge anywhere internationally, and that it cannot continue its illegitimate espionage activities and destructive actions against Turkey.
"A STRUCTURE WHOSE UTILITY VALUE HAS EXPIRED"
Pointing out that although FETÖ is a structure whose utility value has expired, it continues its struggle against the state and the leader elected by the people, Minister Fidan stated that the organization is also in cooperation with international dirty power centers while doing this. Describing this situation as 'a disgrace,' Fidan noted that the organization's leaders are virtually holding hostage a mass living in exile abroad, and said the following:
"These people need to wake up, come out of the illusion, feel true patriotism, true religious thought and life again, and return with loyalty to the homeland and nation, rebelling against the organization. As long as this base that does not rebel against the organization exists, the organization will continue to use their existence to serve foreign agencies and maintain its market value from this. But hopefully, I sincerely believe that our homeland, our nation, and our state, with their historical strategic culture and depth, will be as successful in fighting against FETÖ as they have been in all similar future attacks."
10-HOUR TRAIN JOURNEY TO KYIV
Stating that after his statements, they would move to Kyiv and undertake a 10-hour train journey due to the closed airspace, Fidan also touched upon diplomatic contacts regarding Ukraine. Recalling that they visited Moscow last month to convey President Erdoğan's messages and received perspectives from their Russian counterparts and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the ongoing war, Fidan stated that the Ukraine issue was central during Trump's visit, the subsequent NATO summit, and finally the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris. Fidan stated that, on behalf of the President, he met with European leaders in Paris and engaged in continuous exchanges of views.
"TURKEY IS IN THE 'HOW TO STOP THE WAR' LANE"
Noting that in the European arena, the war is generally approached from two separate lanes: 'How to support war efforts?' and 'How to stop the war?', Minister Fidan emphasized that Turkey, from the beginning of the war with President Erdoğan's perspective, has shown intense effort in the 'How to stop the war?' lane. Speaking about the goals of the Kyiv visit, Fidan said, "In this trip, by again getting the ideas of our Ukrainian counterparts and President Zelenskyy first-hand, conveying our President's messages, and sharing our own observations, explaining what we think and how we view things to the parties has always yielded positive results so far."
Reminding that Turkey hosted Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul last year, Fidan recalled that before that, they implemented various unifying and facilitating activities such as the prisoner exchange and the grain deal that enabled navigation safety in the Black Sea. Emphasizing that all these steps have been built upon each other to reach the present day, Minister Fidan added that he believes this visit will make a positive contribution to ongoing efforts.
