In the Foça district of İzmir, Gülay Işıklar, the wife of former Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Fehmi Işıklar, was shot and killed by her son with a gun. The son, C.I., has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

In the Foça district of İzmir, Gülay Işıklar (54), the wife of former Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Fehmi Işıklar (85), was shot and killed by her son C.I. (28) with a gun.

The incident occurred in the morning hours in the Bağarası neighborhood of the district. C.I., the son of Fehmi Işıklar, who is a former deputy speaker of the TBMM and a father of six, allegedly shot his mother Gülay Işıklar for an unknown reason at home. Upon hearing the gunshots, the authorities were alerted, and gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical teams confirmed that Gülay Işıklar had lost her life. After the examination, Gülay Işıklar's lifeless body was taken to Foça State Hospital and then sent to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institution morgue.

HE WAS SENT TO COURT

The murder suspect C.I. was detained by gendarmerie teams and taken to the District Gendarmerie Command. After his procedures at the gendarmerie, C.I. was sent to court.

HE HAD SERVED IN 3 PARTIES

Fehmi Işıklar, who was elected as a Bursa deputy from the Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP) in the 1987 elections, resigned from the party in 1990 and served as the chairman of the People's Labor Party (HEP). He was elected as a Diyarbakır deputy from the SHP in the 1991 elections and served as the deputy speaker of the TBMM during this period, also holding positions as deputy chairman in both the SHP and CHP.
