An investigation has been initiated following a criminal complaint against Mehmet Cemil Acar, the former Director of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ). Acar, who was found with 26 kilograms of gold and a large amount of foreign currency in a bank safe, was arrested by the court on charges of "bribery and corruption." The value of the assets in the safe alone amounts to 160 million Turkish lira.

26 KILOS OF GOLD, 1 MILLION DOLLARS, 120 THOUSAND EUROS...
As part of the investigation initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office upon the complaint of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was determined that 26 kilograms of gold bars, 1 million 320 thousand dollars, and 121 thousand euros were found in the safe belonging to former General Directorate of State Airports Authority's Department Head Mehmet Cemil Acar.
DIGITAL ASSETS UNDER SCRUTINY
After his transactions, Acar was referred to the magistrate's court, where he was arrested for the crime of "bribery and corruption." While Acar's digital assets are also under scrutiny, it has been learned that the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) is conducting work to identify cryptocurrency accounts both domestically and abroad, as well as digital assets held in potential cold wallets.
MONEY MAY BE TRANSFERRED TO THE TREASURY
In the later stages of the investigation against Acar, if the allegations of bribery and corruption are found to be substantiated by the court, it is expected that all seized movable assets will be transferred to the state treasury for the public good.
