Former star of Super Lig giant Fenerbahçe, Enner Valencia, made statements about Galatasaray that will be widely discussed.
Speaking to Fanatik, Valencia said, "Among the leagues I have played in, it would be correct to say that the Premier League is certainly one of the toughest leagues. It is a very physical league, with teams that are organized tactically. It is also a league with high organization. I can say this is an accurate observation. My journey with Fenerbahçe actually started during the pandemic period. At that time, the world was experiencing lockdowns, so while we were all at home trying to find solutions to different issues... I was even playing for Tigres at that time. During that period, I received information from my manager. In his conversation with my manager, Erol Bulut had expressed that if he took over as the head coach of Fenerbahçe, he wanted to see me in the team. When Erol Bulut moved to Fenerbahçe, he took me along with him. As these developments progressed over time, I found myself in Istanbul and at Fenerbahçe. I am very happy to be part of this beautiful team," he said.
"I WAS ABLE TO WIN A TROPHY"
Speaking about his successes at Fenerbahçe, the successful forward said, "When you come to Fenerbahçe, you already know how high the expectations are due to the club's history. Therefore, my most important and biggest goal has always been to win trophies with this team. We had a very special focus on the league, but unfortunately, we couldn't win during my time there. The club has been wanting to win the league for a few years now. I was able to win at least one trophy. But not being able to win the league has always stayed in the back of my mind. After a 4-year period, I was entering my contract year. During this time, we were having contract renewal discussions with Fenerbahçe, but the final step never came. I can say that there was a lot of interest from other teams because I showed a very strong performance during my time at Fenerbahçe. Among those interested was Internacional from Brazil. When a nice offer came from Internacional and I saw that they were very interested in me, and since my contract renewal process with Fenerbahçe was not completed, I committed to Internacional. Even though I received a contract renewal offer from Fenerbahçe, I went to Brazil at the end of the season because I had given my word," he expressed.
"I BELIEVE IN FENERBAHÇE"
Valencia also expressed that the yellow-navy team could do well on the road to the championship, saying, "When we look at the league situation, we see that Galatasaray has a few points ahead. But I think I know the Super Lig well, and it is a league where battles are fought until the end, until the last week... For Fenerbahçe, the most important thing will be to fight until the last week and close the point gap. Right now, if Fenerbahçe were in 1st place, I would like to say 80%, but it is not like that in the table. However, I believe that the club will fight until the last weeks and close the point gap. I don't think the point gap is very important at this stage," he said.
"I WANTED TO SCORE AGAINST GALATASARAY"
Finally, the star footballer made a confession about Galatasaray, saying, "Finding a name is actually a bit difficult. When I think of my own statistics, I realize that I haven't scored against Galatasaray. As a forward, your biggest wish is to score in big matches. Even if I can't choose a single defender, I can say the entire Galatasaray defense. I always wanted to score in those matches, but it didn't happen," he concluded.
