A construction worker named Luis Salazar, who found 30,023 dollars (approximately 1,426,798 Turkish Lira) in a restroom of a supermarket in the USA, spent days trying to find the owner of the bag. With the help of police teams, the money was delivered to its owner in full, and it was revealed that the money had been saved by a young man for his sister's surgery, for which he had sold his Pokémon card collection.

The incident in Riviera Beach, Florida, USA, has been recorded as one of the examples of honesty. Construction worker Luis Salazar found a black fanny pack left on a safety railing while using a market's restroom on May 3, 2026.

Thinking the bag might belong to a customer who had recently used the restroom, Salazar first searched for its owner inside the market and then in the parking lot. However, despite all his efforts, he could not find the bag's owner.

THE BAG CONTAINED 1.4 MILLION LIRA

Salazar checked the bag for any identification or contact information and found 30,023 dollars (approximately 1,426,798 lira) in cash inside. Despite the large amount of money, Salazar did not touch a single penny and continued his efforts to return the bag to its owner.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old bag owner realized he had lost his fanny pack during his trip and returned to the market. When he could not find the bag, he filed a missing property report with the Riviera Beach Police Department.

POLICE FOUND HIM THROUGH CAMERAS

Upon the report, police teams reviewing the security camera footage identified Luis Salazar as the person who had taken the bag. The footage also showed Salazar searching for the owner inside the market and in the parking lot after picking up the bag.

Following the police investigation, Salazar and the bag's owner were brought together at the police station. The bag was returned to its owner with all 30,023 dollars inside. In the footage recorded by the police, the young man confirmed by counting the money one by one that he had received it in full.

HE HAD SAVED THE MONEY FOR HIS SISTER'S SURGERY

The bag owner, who did not want his identity disclosed, said he had saved the money for his little sister's surgery expenses. The young man stated that he had sold his childhood Pokémon card collection to raise this money.

Authorities announced that all of the returned money was used for the sister's treatment expenses and that the surgery was successfully performed.
