"ÖCALAN IS WILLING TO SOLVE THE KURDISH ISSUE"

Speaking on behalf of his party regarding the 11th article of the proposal, DEM Party Ağrı Deputy Sırrı Sakık stated that he went to meet with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in Damascus in 1993 at the request of President Turgut Özal, and Öcalan was willing to solve the Kurdish issue. Sakık also mentioned that the process was disrupted after Özal's death.

Sakık pointed out that Kurdish politicians are trying to shape the process by paying a price; he called on all political actors who want to contribute to the process, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, and the imprisoned former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş.

Sakık used the following expressions: "I had addressed Mr. Erdoğan from this podium. I do not praise anyone but Huda, but I am praising you and Öcalan. Come, be a saint of this country. Look, you have stopped the blood for 3 years. Now, from here this evening, I am calling out again. Mr. Erdoğan, Mr. Bahçeli, take Mr. Özel by your side, take Mr. Demirtaş as well, and bring all political actors who will contribute to peace, come, be a saint of this country."
