US President Donald Trump made headlines with his comment about the buttocks of world-famous rapper Nicki Minaj, who supported him at an election rally in Michigan. Trump said, "I looked at a magnificent butt. Nicki Minaj, right? It's hard to miss that butt," while the famous singer stood up and greeted the crowd. Minaj, who arrived at the rally on Trump's presidential plane, reiterated her support for the US President by saying, "We love Donald Trump."
U.S. President Donald Trump attended a rally held in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, October 25, ahead of the midterm congressional elections to be held on November 3. World-famous rapper Nicki Minaj also accompanied Trump at the event held at McMorran Place Arena.
The rally was held to support Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and John James, who is running for Michigan governor. Speaking for about two hours, Trump drew attention both for his remarks about his political rivals and for his statements about Minaj.
"THAT BUTT IS HARD TO MISS"
During his speech, Trump touched on previous comments he had made about the physical appearance of Ohio Senator Jon Husted. Trump, explaining that he had learned Husted was an athlete in the past and had therefore examined his physique, then brought the topic to Nicki Minaj.
Pointing to the famous rapper, Trump said, "I looked at a magnificent butt. Nicki Minaj, right? That butt is hard to miss." Trump's words were met with cheers from the crowd in the hall.
The U.S. President then asked Minaj to stand up. The famous rapper stood up, greeted the crowd, and gave a thumbs-up.
"I HOPE NICKI ISN'T OFFENDED"
After his comment, Trump, realizing he had drifted from the topic of his speech, said he would return to his political remarks. Trump said, "I hope Nicki didn't take offense, but we love Nicki. She's been with us for a long time."
Trump's remarks about Minaj's physical appearance were reported by many foreign media outlets, including the British newspapers The Guardian and The Independent. U.S. entertainment news site TMZ also covered Trump's remarks at the rally.
NICKI MINAJ CAME TO THE RALLY ON TRUMP'S PLANE
Before the rally, it was learned that Nicki Minaj traveled with Trump to Michigan aboard the presidential plane Air Force One. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video in which Minaj was also on the plane.
In his post, Cheung used a humorous remark suggesting that the famous rapper could be the new White House press secretary. Alex Bruesewitz, one of Trump's advisers, also addressed Minaj's fans and asked what they thought about the idea.
The posts in question led to comments that Minaj might take a role in the Trump administration. However, no official announcement was made regarding such an appointment.
"WE LOVE DONALD TRUMP"
Taking the podium at the rally, Nicki Minaj clearly expressed her support for Trump. Addressing the crowd, the famous rapper chanted, "We love Trump! We love Trump!" Minaj said that after Trump returned to the presidency, she was more hopeful about the country's future.
Minaj, also asking for support for the Republican candidates in Michigan, called on voters to go to the polls.
"IF YOU RUN AGAIN, I'LL SUPPORT YOU AGAIN"
At the end of her speech, Minaj addressed Trump and said she was honored to be with him. The famous rapper, stating that she would continue to support Trump, said, "If you run again, I will support you again."
Trump later spoke highly of Minaj, saying the famous singer was very special and intelligent. Minaj's recent political support for Trump is also receiving wide coverage in the U.S. press.
TRUMP HAD MADE A SIMILAR COMMENT BEFORE
It was not the first time Trump made a comment about someone's physical appearance at a rally. The U.S. President had previously used similar expressions about Ohio Senator Jon Husted.
In his speech in Michigan, Trump noted that these remarks were intended as a joke and drew attention to Husted's athletic background. The Guardian and The Independent assessed Trump's remarks about Minaj together with his previous statements about Husted.
THE RALLY'S AGENDA INCLUDED THE NOVEMBER 3 ELECTIONS
Trump's visit to Michigan was held ahead of the midterm congressional elections to be held in the U.S. on November 3. Trump, supporting Republican candidates Mike Rogers and John James, asked voters to vote for his party.
In the Michigan election race, Rogers's opponent, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, and John James's opponent, Democrat Jocelyn Benson, stand out. Although political messages were at the forefront at the rally, Trump's butt comment about Nicki Minaj became one of the most notable moments of the event in the international press.
