The list of counterfeit and adulterated foods announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on October 2 is revealing new details every day. Recently, it was discovered that active ingredients used in sexual potency-enhancing drugs were found in 17 different products listed. The active ingredients identified in these products were reported to be 'sildenafil' and 'tadalafil', which are prohibited for sale. These substances can be obtained with a prescription under medical supervision for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and sexual dysfunction, and a medication report must be obtained beforehand. THERE IS A WAY TO DEATH'Sildenafil', which can cause discomforts such as headaches, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, increased shortness of breath, blurred vision, heartburn, excessive redness of the face, runny nose, nosebleeds, and sensitivity to light, can lead to strokes and even deaths when taken in high doses. WHICH PRODUCTS WERE USED?The active ingredients 'sildenafil' and 'tadalafil', which are considered dangerous, were found in products such as herbal mixture chocolate, ginseng candy, chocolate with herbal juice, energy drinks with herbal juice, and some energy drinks in 150 and 250 ml sizes, as well as in hazelnut candy with epimedium and ginseng. THEY HAVE ALSO ADDED IT TO MESIR PASTEIt was recorded that the active ingredient was even found in a 15 g sachet of honey from a business in Küçükçekmece, and this active ingredient was also found in products such as effervescent tablets, sultan paste, mesir paste, herbal mixture paste, honey herbal paste, and herbal paste with epimedium. In addition to flavored, coffee-flavored, and sour cherry-flavored carbonated and non-carbonated drinks, the active ingredient was also detected in ginseng mixed vitamin fruit-flavored, herbal mixture carbonated and non-carbonated drinks, as well as in black tea, mixed herbal tea, coffee, herbal mixture coffee, and mixed herbal powders. It was noted that most of these products were produced by companies in major cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Mersin, Bursa, Ankara, and Kocaeli. EXPERTS WARN "STAY AWAY"Experts warn consumers that if they experience symptoms such as headaches after consuming these products, they should be cautious as these products may contain prohibited drug active ingredients, and they should avoid such products.
