Galatasaray Club announced that the Istanbul Anatolia 36th Civil Court of First Instance rejected the non-pecuniary damages lawsuit of 1 million 907 thousand TL filed by Fenerbahçe's former head coach Jose Mourinho against Galatasaray.
Galatasaray Club issued a striking statement regarding the moral compensation lawsuit filed by former Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho.
MOURINHO'S LAWSUIT WAS DISMISSED
The yellow-red club announced that the Istanbul Anatolia 36th Civil Court of First Instance dismissed Mourinho's moral compensation lawsuit against Galatasaray, which sought 1,907,000 TL.
''ASSESSED AS A CRITICAL RESPONSE''
In the statement from Galatasaray, it was stated: "The Istanbul Anatolia 36th Civil Court of First Instance has dismissed the moral compensation lawsuit filed by Jose Mourinho for 1,907,000 TL regarding our club's posts in response to Mourinho's statements following the Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe derby played on February 24, 2025. The court assessed Galatasaray's statements not as an unjust attack on personality rights, but as a critical response to the debate initiated by Mourinho's own words."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Jose Mourinho had filed a lawsuit against the yellow-red club after the derby match played against Galatasaray in the Super League. In a statement, the yellow-navy club said: "Fenerbahçe Sports Club announces to the public through its lawyers that a moral compensation lawsuit of 1 million 907 thousand Turkish Liras has been filed by Jose Mourinho against Galatasaray Sports Club due to the attack on the personality rights of our Head Coach Jose Mourinho."
