Fenerbahçe's request to have an observer in the VAR room before the derby was rejected by the TFF because Galatasaray did not make a similar request.
A remarkable development occurred ahead of the Galatasaray-Fenerbahce derby to be played in the Super League. Fenerbahce's request to have an observer in the VAR room was rejected by the Turkish Football Federation.
JOINT REQUEST CONDITION NOT MET
The Fenerbahce management requested that both their own representatives and Galatasaray officials be present in the VAR room before the derby. However, for the implementation to take effect, both clubs needed to make a joint application. Since the Galatasaray side was not receptive to this request, the TFF did not accept the application from the yellow-navy club.
NEGATIVE RESPONSE FROM THE FEDERATION
The TFF, according to current rules, only allows observers in the VAR room if both clubs agree. Since this condition was not met, the federation gave a negative response to Fenerbahce's request.
WHAT DID TORUNOGULLARI SAY?
Fenerbahce Board Member Ertan Torunogullari had previously expressed his expectations regarding the process in a statement. Torunogullari said, "We wrote an official letter to the TFF. We applied for both our and Galatasaray's representatives to be in the VAR room to see the conversations and images. However, for this, both clubs need to agree. We are waiting."
