Following allegations of betting and match-fixing, a harsh statement was issued by the yellow-red club after claims were made regarding Galatasaray Vice President Maruf Güneş, who was detained as part of an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The club asserted that the allegations do not reflect the truth and are part of an organized perception operation, announcing that legal and criminal proceedings will be initiated against those spreading false news.
One of the names detained in the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding betting and match-fixing allegations was Galatasaray Vice President Maruf Güneş.
STATEMENT FROM GALATASARAY
Regarding Güneş, an allegation was made that he placed a bet on the penalty kick taken by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera in the Galatasaray-Kayserispor match played on May 18, 2025.
Following these allegations, a statement came from the yellow-reds.
Galatasaray Club stated that false content not based on any information or documents regarding the investigation process has been systematically circulated, attempting to mislead the public and targeting the club and its managers, and announced that legal action will be taken.

The club's statement included the following expressions: "Based on an investigation process conducted on July 17, false content not based on any information or documents has been produced by certain individuals and circles; this content has been systematically circulated to mislead the public and target our club and managers. This initiative is a clear perception operation against Galatasaray Sports Club.
First of all, everyone should know that; legal and criminal actions will be taken against individuals and accounts that produce, spread, or circulate false information and news, especially on social media, attempting to mislead the public, and necessary criminal complaints will be filed.
The only reason we have not made a more comprehensive statement on the matter until now is the confidentiality and restriction order in the investigation file. Out of respect for the law and judicial process, this decision has been meticulously adhered to, and any statements that could affect the integrity of the investigation have been avoided.
Our trust in the Turkish judiciary and justice is complete. The truth will clearly emerge during the judicial process. In this process, Galatasaray Sports Club will not leave any attack on its corporate reputation unanswered and will resolutely exercise all its legal rights.

Before the season even started, the simultaneous circulation of various lies and slanders has only one purpose: for those who cannot digest Galatasaray's dominance on the field for four years to try to wear down our club with off-field agendas.
