In the Serik district of Antalya, a gas cylinder explosion on the second floor of a building injured one person, causing severe damage to the five-story building and four parked vehicles.
A person was injured in a gas cylinder explosion in a house in the Serik district of Antalya. The explosion caused damage to a 5-story building and vehicles. The incident occurred around 05:00 in the morning in the kitchen on the second floor of a 5-story building in the Gedik neighborhood of Serik. During the explosion caused by gas compression, an unidentified person in the house was injured.
INJURED PERSON'S CONDITION IS SERIOUS
Upon notification from citizens, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. After initial first aid by health teams, the injured person was first taken to Serik State Hospital and then to a hospital in Antalya. It was learned that the injured person's condition remains serious.
"WE THOUGHT IT WAS AN EARTHQUAKE"
Safa Nergiz, a resident of the apartment building who witnessed the incident, said: "It was around 5 o'clock, I was lying alone at home. I heard an explosion sound. At first, I thought it was an earthquake. I heard someone shouting about an explosion. I went downstairs. This is the situation. I first thought it was an earthquake, but it was a gas cylinder explosion. There is significant damage to the building. Doors, windows, and walls were destroyed. There was one person in the house; they had burns on their body and were taken to the hospital."
4 VEHICLES SEVERELY DAMAGED
Another apartment resident, Barış Türkdağlı, said: "There was intense gas compression, and the building ended up like this due to the explosion. Our vehicles are like this. The most reassuring news is that there is no loss of life. At that moment, we thought it was an earthquake. We thought a bomb was dropped; everything crossed our minds. I had my family, and we evacuated them. The person in the house where the explosion occurred is injured and in the hospital."
After the explosion, severe damage occurred to the building and 4 parked vehicles. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
