The Presidency of Religious Affairs has published the Friday sermon to be read today in all mosques across Turkey under the title “Humanity’s Test: Gaza.” In the sermon, which stated that the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza has completed its third year, a call for boycott was made. In the sermon, it was emphasized that the boycott should not be seen as a passing reaction but as “a conscious and moral stance against oppression.”
Diyanet’s Friday sermon this week was dedicated to Gaza. In the sermon, attention was drawn to Muslims’ consumption power and emphasis was placed on the importance of the boycott.
In the sermon, it was stated that in Gaza mosques, homes, schools and hospitals are being bombed, people are being displaced from their homes, vineyards and gardens are being plundered, and workplaces are being burned and destroyed. The sermon included the statements, “The sanctities of Muslims are being violated; children, the elderly, women, the disabled, in short, an entire society, are being mercilessly massacred before the eyes of the whole world.”
“A HISTORIC TEST IN WHICH CONSCIENCE, MORALITY AND HONOR ARE TRIED”
It was noted that what is happening in Gaza is not only a disaster to which Palestinians are subjected, but a historic test that tries the conscience, morality and honor of every human being on earth. In the sermon, it was said, “The cries rising to the heavens in Gaza burn the heart of every person who takes justice, fairness and mercy as their motto. The rising of voices and reactions all over the world for the massacre to end, civilians to be protected and aid to reach them shows that consciences have not been blunted and humanity has not died.”
THE WORDS OF A GAZA CHILD IN THE SERMON
In the sermon, which stated that throughout history tyrants thought themselves invincible, but those who said that truth would prevail always appeared, the words of a child from Gaza were also included. The child’s words were conveyed: “If you destroy our home, we will build a new one; if you destroy our school, we will establish a new one. We are not going anywhere.”
In the sermon, which emphasized that oppression will not last forever, a quotation was also made from Surah Al-Baqarah: “For no matter how powerful the oppressors may be, the judgment of our Almighty Lord is certain: ‘…How many small groups have overcome very large groups by the permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient.’”
“OUR TEST IS TO NOT FORGET AND TO BE SENSITIVE”
In the sermon, the resistance in Gaza and the responsibilities of Muslims were addressed. In the sermon, which drew attention to consumption power and the importance of the boycott, the following statements were used:
“Gaza is the name of a historic resistance that raises the banner of humanity’s honor to the sky. While our brothers and sisters there are being tested by the pain of their children, the anxiety for their lives and the destruction of their homeland, we too are being tested by our stance and sensitivity. If the test of our brothers and sisters in Gaza is to be patient, our test is not to forget; if their test is to resist, our test is to be sensitive; if their test is to struggle with deprivation, our test is to share our means with them. At the same time, we must not underestimate the consumption power we possess, and we must view the boycott not as a temporary reaction but as a conscious and moral stance against oppression.”
EMPHASIS ON MASJID AL-AQSA AND EAST TURKISTAN
The sermon ended with the following words after the quotation from Surah An-Nisa: “When Muslims respond to the verse, ‘And when an unjust attack is made against them, they defend themselves together,’ and rush to each other’s aid, the oppressors who show disrespect to Masjid Al-Aqsa and the Haram al-Ibrahim Mosque will be defeated, and all the oppressed on earth, foremost our brothers and sisters in Gaza and East Turkestan, will attain salvation.”
