Reaching the semifinals after 15 years, the capital team will host Trabzonspor at Eryaman Stadium tomorrow at 20:30.

Entering the Ziraat Turkey Cup in the fourth round, the capital representatives defeated Sakaryaspor 5-0 to advance to the group stage. In Group B, Gençlerbirliği beat Sipay Bodrum FK 3-2, Hesap.com Antalyaspor 1-0, and Aliağa FK 3-1, and drew 2-2 with ikas Eyüpspor. Finishing the group in third place with 10 points, the red-black team defeated Galatasaray, who had a perfect 4 wins in Group A, 2-0 away in the quarterfinals. The capital team was paired with Trabzonspor in the semifinals.
WILL FACE TRABZONSPOR BACK-TO-BACK
Having boosted their hopes of staying in the Süper Lig with the victory over Kasımpaşa, the capital representatives will also face Trabzonspor away in a critical league survival match in the final week after the semifinal. Gençlerbirliği won its first Turkey Cup championship in the 1986-87 season. Facing Eskişehirspor in the two-legged final, the capital team won the first match in Ankara 5-0. Losing the return match in Eskişehir 2-1, Gençlerbirliği secured the cup for the first time with a 6-2 aggregate advantage.
SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP ON PENALTIES
The red-black team won its second Turkey Cup championship in the 2000-01 season. Facing Fenerbahçe in the final played at Kayseri Atatürk Stadium on April 11, 2001, Gençlerbirliği won 4-1 on penalties after a 2-2 draw, claiming their second cup.
BACK-TO-BACK FINALS WITH TRABZONSPOR
Gençlerbirliği experienced consecutive cup final excitement in the early 2000s. The capital team lost 3-1 to Trabzonspor in the final played at Antalya Atatürk Stadium in the 2002-03 season. The red-blacks faced Trabzonspor again in the final the following season. The burgundy-blue team won the match at Istanbul Atatürk Olympic Stadium 4-0 and took the cup home.
LAST FINAL IN 2008
Gençlerbirliği played its last Turkey Cup final in the 2007-08 season against Kayserispor. The final in Bursa ended 0-0 after regular time and extra time. Losing 11-10 to their opponent on penalties, the red-black team finished as runners-up. The final match of the 2025-26 Ziraat Turkey Cup season will be hosted by Antalya on Friday, May 22. If Gençlerbirliği ends its 18-year final drought, they will compete against TÜMOSAN Konyaspor to win their third cup.
