Valentina Gomez, a candidate from the Republican Party in the United States, faced significant backlash for her statements targeting Muslims. In a video shared on her social media account, Gomez used language that labeled Muslims as "terrorists," and these remarks resonated widely in the public sphere.
In the video he shared, Gomez's statement, "Vote for me so we can expel all the dirty Muslims in Texas," was harshly criticized. Human rights organizations and numerous politicians stated that the remarks were a clear hate speech.
MORGAN ASKED, GOMEZ CHANGED THE SUBJECT
Gomez also appeared on the program of British journalist and television presenter Piers Morgan. In response to Morgan's question about the illegal invasion of Iraq by the US and the UK in 2003, Gomez replied, "Muslims are killing Christians in Nigeria." Morgan, pointing out that Gomez was diverting the topic, responded, "I didn't ask you about Nigeria. I'm asking you about the Iraq invasion." Gomez then justified himself by saying, "I was four years old at that time."
Gomez's statements were strongly criticized in the country, especially by Muslim communities and human rights advocates.
