Due to the tension between the US and Iran, Brent crude, which had approached $110, fell to $105 after the steps taken by the Trump administration. The decline in oil prices was also reflected in fuel prices in Turkey. As of October 20, a 4 lira 30 kuruş discount was applied to gasoline, and the price per liter fell to 79 lira 40 kuruş in Istanbul, 80 lira 60 kuruş in Ankara, and 80 lira 80 kuruş in Izmir.
The escalating military and political tension between the US and Iran has brought the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important transit points of world oil trade, to the center of the agenda. As shipping in the strait came to a halt, concerns about global energy supply increased, and the barrel price of Brent crude approached $110.
TRUMP'S STEPS LOWERED OIL PRICES
The rise in oil markets gave way to a decline after statements from the Washington administration. US President Donald Trump's messages toward a diplomatic solution and the suspension of sanctions imposed on Russia eased supply concerns in the markets. Following these developments, the barrel price of Brent crude fell to $105.
