Oil prices fell as US-Iran tensions eased and tanker traffic resumed through the Strait of Hormuz. Following the decline in oil prices, a reduction of 3 lira 27 kuruş on gasoline is planned starting tomorrow. However, due to the eşel mobile system, the discount is expected to be reflected as 82 kuruş at the pump. After the discount, the price per liter of gasoline in Istanbul is estimated to drop to 64.28 lira.

The easing of tensions between the US and Iran and the strengthening of hopes for an agreement between the parties have caused movement in energy markets. With tankers that received permission from Iran starting to traverse the Strait of Hormuz again, oil prices fell below $100.

Following the drop in oil prices, expectations of a reduction in fuel prices have emerged.

3.27 LIRA DISCOUNT ON GASOLINE

A discount of 3 lira 27 kuruş per liter of gasoline is planned, effective from tomorrow. However, due to the equalization mobile system, the discount is expected to be reflected at the pump as 82 kuruş.

CURRENT GASOLINE PRICES

After the discount, the price per liter of gasoline is expected to drop to 64.28 lira in Istanbul, 65.26 lira in Ankara, and 65.54 lira in Izmir.

In eastern provinces, the price per liter of gasoline is estimated to decline to approximately 66.89 lira.

ALL EYES ON THE OIL MARKET

Experts note that developments on the US-Iran front will continue to be decisive on oil prices, stating that the normalization of shipments in the Strait of Hormuz has reduced pressure on energy markets.

WHAT IS THE EQUALIZATION MOBILE SYSTEM?

The equalization mobile system is a mechanism that adjusts taxes on fuel, ensuring that price increases or decreases are reflected at the pump in a limited manner.

For example, if there should normally be a 3.27 lira discount on gasoline, the state adjusts through the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) and does not reflect the full amount at the pump. Therefore, as in the news, the discount is expected to be passed on to the consumer as only 82 kuruş.

The same system was used in past fuel price hikes, with part of the increases covered by taxes.
