The Istanbul Governorship announced, based on data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, that intermittent heavy rainfall, strong northerly winds, and a temperature drop are expected between July 22-26. It was requested to take precautions against flooding, water inundation, strong winds, and disruptions in transportation.
The Istanbul Governorship, in light of the latest assessments from the General Directorate of Meteorology, has issued a warning for intermittent showers and north-easterly winds between July 22 and July 26. According to the assessments, a decrease in air temperature is also expected. The Governorship urged caution and preparedness against adverse conditions such as floods, water inundation, strong winds during precipitation, and disruptions in transportation.
WINTER IS RETURNING
The warning from the Istanbul Governorship is as follows:
"According to the assessment of the General Directorate of Meteorology; intermittent showers and local thunderstorms are expected across Istanbul starting from Wednesday, July 22.
It is estimated that the rains will be effective in the western districts of the European Side (Çatalca, Silivri, Arnavutköy, and Büyükçekmece) after noon, and locally across the province in the evening, in the form of intermittent showers and thunderstorms. Between July 23 and July 26, locally effective showers and thunderstorms are expected across the province.
"AIR TEMPERATURE WILL DROP"
The wind is expected to blow from the north and northeast (poyraz) directions at moderate strength, occasionally strong (30-50 km/h), and on Saturday, it may briefly reach speeds of 40-60 km/h. Additionally, air temperatures, which have been 1-3°C above seasonal norms, are forecast to decrease significantly from Thursday, dropping to 2-4°C below seasonal norms.
