Greece has extended the duration of the visa-on-arrival application for 10 islands in the Aegean Sea by another year, creating a new list that also includes the islands of Patmos and Samothrace. The application will be submitted for approval to the European Commission.

The Greek government has extended the visa-on-arrival application for Turkish citizens wishing to visit 10 islands in the Aegean Sea for another year, and it has been stated that 2 more islands have been added to the list. According to information obtained from diplomatic sources, Greece has extended the duration of the visa-on-arrival application it initiated for Turkish citizens for the 10 islands for another year. It was noted that the extension of the application would be submitted for approval to the European Commission, and then the duration would officially be extended until April 2026.

2 MORE ISLANDS CAN BE VISITED WITHOUT A VISA

Additionally, it was stated that the initial list of 10 islands would be expanded to include the islands of Patmos and Samothrace. The Commission welcomed the successful implementation of the plan for 1 year and appreciated its positive contribution to strengthening the ties between the two peoples. With the regulation that came into effect in March 2024, more than 100,000 visas have been issued to Turkish citizens for the islands of Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Lesbos, Chios, Leros, Symi, Limnos, Kalymnos, and Meis to date.
