An indictment was prepared against CHP bus driver Gökhan Gülyurt on the grounds that he did not comply with the police's "stop" warning and drove the vehicle towards them, with the charge of "resisting the performance of duty" in a chain manner.

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, police officers Mehmet Ö, Okan A, Okan Y, Sare Y, and Yasemin K, were listed as complainants, while bus driver Gökhan Gülyurt was listed as the suspect.

HE DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE "STOP" WARNING

According to the indictment, the suspect Gülyurt was driving the official bus with license plate 06 CHP 66, which was carrying CHP deputies and the party's deputy chairpersons, when on April 23, while traveling from Hipodrom Street towards Talatpaşa Street, complainant police officers Sare Y. and Okan A attempted to stop the vehicle by issuing a "stop" warning to learn which direction the bus would go.

POLICE JUMPED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT THE LAST MOMENT

After Gülyurt drove the vehicle towards Sare Y. and Okan A, he turned from Talatpaşa Boulevard to Altınsoy Street and continued towards the Ankara Courthouse. Despite complainant police officer Mehmet Ö raising his hand and persistently warning the suspect to "stop," the vehicle did not stop. Mehmet Ö jumped to the side of the road to avoid being hit by the bus.

Gökhan Gülyurt

While the bus driven by Gökhan Gülyurt was traveling towards Atatürk Boulevard, complainant police officers Yasemin K. and Okan Y attempted to stop the vehicle once again. However, the suspect did not comply with the "stop" warning and drove the vehicle towards the police officers, continuing on his way.

THE BUS WAS CONSIDERED A WEAPON

In the indictment, Gülyurt stated that they wanted to go to the old Parliament in Ulus with the official bus allocated to the party leader, which had 17 deputies and 2 deputy chairpersons inside.

Gülyurt expressed that they used the road in front of the courthouse to catch up with the program schedule, stating, "The police wanted to stop the bus. However, due to the weight of the bus, I could not stop because my braking distance was long. Since we were late for the program, the deputies and our party's deputy chairpersons told me to continue on the road."

It was stated in the indictment that Gülyurt's act of driving the "bus considered a weapon" towards the complainants was of a coercive nature and that all elements of the crime of resisting the performance of duty were present. It was recorded as follows:

"After the suspect drove the bus towards complainants Sare Y. and Okan A on Hipodrom Street, it was understood that he also drove the bus towards complainant Mehmet Ö on Altınsoy Street, and then towards complainants Okan Y. and Yasemin K on Atatürk Boulevard. It was determined that complainants Sare Y. and Okan A, complainant Mehmet Ö, and complainants Okan Y. and Yasemin K were in different places without spatial unity, and that the suspect separately warned each of them to 'stop.' However, despite seeing the 'stop' warnings, the suspect committed the crime attributed to him three times by driving the bus considered a weapon towards the complainants each time as part of a decision to commit a new crime. It has been concluded that the suspect should also be subject to the provisions of chain crimes due to committing the crimes against complainants Sare Y. and Okan A and complainants Okan Y. and Yasemin K with a single act."

13 YEARS REQUESTED

In the indictment, it was requested that Gülyurt be sentenced to up to 13 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "resisting the performance of duty" in a chain manner.
