Ceasefire negotiations are ongoing in Gaza. Most recently, an Israeli official announced that Hamas is very close to accepting the ceasefire proposal. However, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated that Hamas has not yet responded to the ceasefire offer. In a subsequent statement, Palestinian sources indicated that Hamas would respond positively to the agreement after receiving the map from Israel that includes the withdrawal from Gaza.
The 'ceasefire' puzzle continues in the Gaza Strip, where the occupying Israeli forces continue their massacres.
ISRAELI OFFICIAL: HAMAS HAS ACCEPTED THE CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT
Following U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's announcement that a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas could happen "at any moment," a new statement came from Tel Aviv. Israeli officials speaking to Reuters said that Hamas is very close to accepting the ceasefire and hostage return proposal shared by Qatari negotiators. Israeli media also claimed that a ceasefire agreement is expected to be reached in the coming hours.
THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE ANNOUNCED THAT HAMAS HAS NOT GIVEN ITS FINAL RESPONSE
However, a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office indicated that Hamas has not yet responded to the ceasefire offer. The statement said, "Contrary to reports in the media, Hamas has not yet given its final response regarding the ceasefire agreement."
WHAT DOES THE CEASEFIRE DRAFT INCLUDE?
The agreement between Hamas and Israel consists of three phases, each lasting 42 days. The first phase, also referred to as the "humanitarian phase," involves the delivery of 33 Israeli captives, either alive or dead. During this phase, the Israeli army will withdraw from most areas it has entered in the Gaza Strip. According to the draft, the first group of Israeli captives will be released on the 7th day of the agreement's implementation. For each Israeli captive, 50 Palestinian captives will be released, including 30 who have been sentenced to life imprisonment. For each elderly Israeli citizen, 30 Palestinian captives will be released. Palestinian captives can be selected from women, children, or the sick.
THE SECOND PHASE WILL DISCUSS THE RELEASE OF ALL CAPTIVES
The second phase, which will begin on the 16th day of the agreement's implementation, will involve comprehensive negotiations for the release of all Israeli captives held in Gaza. The agreements included in the second phase will be determined before the 5th week of the first phase. The third and final phase of the agreement will include the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
HUMANITARIAN AID TO GAZA STRIP
From the first day the anticipated agreement comes into effect, the entry of 600 trucks loaded with daily humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip will be allowed, 50 of which will be fuel trucks. According to the agreement, 300 trucks loaded with daily humanitarian aid will enter the northern Gaza Strip. The entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip will continue throughout the three phases of the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement. During this time, the United Nations and international organizations will continue their activities in the Gaza Strip.
RETURN AND RECONSTRUCTION OF DISPLACED PERSONS
From the first day the potential agreement comes into effect, Palestinians will be allowed to return to their homes in the north from the south. Additionally, there will be freedom of movement in all areas of the Gaza Strip. After the ceasefire agreement comes into effect, work will begin on the reconstruction of infrastructure in Gaza, including the construction of electricity and water networks. Furthermore, the entry of necessary equipment for the removal of debris in cities destroyed by Israeli bombardment will be permitted. At least 60,000 temporary caravans will be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip for the accommodation of citizens who have lost their homes. The guarantor countries for the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement to be established between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip will be Qatar, Egypt, and the USA.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Intense indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the USA, are ongoing to finalize the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement in Gaza. It has been reported that the Israeli cabinet is likely to meet today to approve the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement in Gaza. Hamas announced that it has reached the final stage of the anticipated agreement on the ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza, while in Doha, Qatar, where negotiations are ongoing. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that they are "at the closest point" to announcing the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement in Gaza.
