AK Party Secretary General and Izmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan reacted harshly to the statement made by the Izmir Journalists Association regarding him. Following the criticisms directed at him, İnan called out to the association's board, saying, "Who do you think you are?" and argued that statements targeting elected members of parliament are unacceptable. Stating, "You cannot dictate to the nation's will," İnan emphasized that they are against baseless news and will continue to produce services.
AK Party Secretary General and Izmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan responded harshly to a statement made by the Izmir Journalists Association directed at him. Speaking in Menemen, İnan addressed the association's board, saying, “Who are you to show the audacity to issue a declaration to deputies who are the voice of the people of Izmir in the Turkish Grand National Assembly?”
İNAN'S REACTION TO 'JUNK NEWS'
Speaking at the 6th Bozalan Fig Festival organized by the Menemen Municipality, İnan touched on the reaction published by the Izmir Journalists Association Board of Directors against him due to his statements made before his visit to the Bergama Municipality.
İnan, who argued that the same sensitivity should be shown in news and statements about elected politicians, said they would not remain silent against attempts of “character assassination” directed at them.
İnan said, “We draw our strength not from those dark rooms, those desk-bound scenarios, but directly from the heart of the nation, from our fellow citizens in Menemen, from the sacred ballot box.”
“YOU CANNOT INTERFERE WITH THE WILL OF A WHOLE CITY”
Directly addressing the Izmir Journalists Association board, İnan stated that the will of the people of Izmir stands behind the elected deputies.
İnan spoke as follows:
“Who are you? Who are you to shake your finger at the will of the nation, at the representatives who have received the mandate of this nation? Who are you to show the audacity to issue a declaration to deputies who are the voice of the people of Izmir in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and to a political movement behind which stands the will of a whole city?”
İnan argued that the association's president, with the votes he received at association congresses, cannot steer Izmir's political will, and said, “Those times are over.”
“WE PRODUCE WORK, THEY PRODUCE LIES”
Also touching on the news and statements made regarding the Bergama Municipality, İnan said he stands by his previous description of the news as “junk.”
İnan, stating that they visited the Bergama Municipality along with deputies and announced a support package of 140 million lira in credit to be provided to Izmir, said, “Because we produce work, they produce lies.”
“LEAVE THE ASSOCIATION SEAT”
Continuing his criticism of the Izmir Journalists Association Board of Directors, İnan called on the association's president to apologize.
İnan said, “If you are so eager for politics, immediately leave that neutral association seat you occupy. Put on your political robe and openly come face to face with us.”
“YOU CANNOT DESTROY OUR LOVE FOR IZMIR”
At the end of his speech, İnan stated that the criticism and allegations directed at them would not change their determination to serve Izmir, and said that as deputies they focus on the city's needs.
İnan said, “Your slanders cannot destroy our love for Izmir, our excitement for producing works! We look not at what anyone says, but at what the people of Izmir need.”
