After the boat tragedy in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in which 8 people lost their lives, the inhumane comments of some Greeks, such as 'Let them die, they were all Turks,' drew widespread reaction. Hulusi Akar, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's National Defense Commission, reacted to the comments of these merciless individuals who have no share of humanity, saying, 'A horrifying scene! They rejoice because the dead are Turks. Who is on the side of peace, who is on the side of hate?'
As a result of the capsizing of a passenger ship that set off from the Girne Port of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to the Taşucu Port in Mersin, 8 people lost their lives, while 20 people went missing at sea. Following the grave incident that captured the attention of the world public, many countries shared condolence messages for those who lost their lives, while some Greeks living on the side of the Greek Cypriot Administration, which describes Turkey as an 'occupier' on the island, made inhumane comments.
OUTRAGEOUS COMMENTS
While a 3-day national mourning was declared in the TRNC, it was seen that some people living in the Greek Cypriot Administration made vile comments such as "The dead are Turks, let them all die" because the deceased were Turkish.
Fivos Kyprianou, a member of ELAM, the government partner of the Greek Cypriot Administration President Nicos Christodulides, used the expressions "Let's not care about the dead. Get a grip". Under the condolence messages in the Greek press, some users made thousands of comments such as "Damn them", "Let them die", "Don't be sad, they were all Turks".
Hulusi Akar, the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly National Defense Commission and AK Party Kayseri Deputy, also made a harsh statement regarding the inhumane comments made after the disaster that plunged Turkey and the TRNC into mourning.

Akar drew attention to the fact that what happened should not be seen merely as a social media debate, emphasizing that hate speech reveals the difference in mentality regarding the Cyprus issue.
In his post on the social media platform X, Akar stated, "Will we live together with these? Let no one who does not see or hear the truth remain," emphasizing that it is unacceptable to rejoice in the death of people because they are Turkish.
