A 48-year-old man, who is alleged to have a significant amount of debt in Esenyurt, attempted suicide by mixing cyanide with water and drinking it in his workshop. In response to the risk, AFAD and police teams took extensive security measures at the scene. The man who attempted suicide was taken to the hospital.
A 48-year-old man, who is claimed to have a large amount of debt, attempted suicide by mixing cyanide into water in his workshop in Esenyurt. Teams that arrived at the scene took the man to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE BY MIXING CYANIDE INTO WATER
The incident occurred on Fevzi Çakmak Street in Esenyurt. According to allegations, E.K. (48), a citizen who was reported to be manufacturing socks in a workshop on the street, was defrauded last year, leading him to incur a significant amount of debt. It is claimed that after his machines were seized due to his debts, the 48-year-old man experienced psychological problems and attempted suicide by mixing cyanide into the water he drank. After feeling unwell shortly after drinking the cyanide-laced water, E.K. called his friends and went out to the street to ask for help from passersby. Upon notification, health, AFAD, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
While police and AFAD teams took extensive security measures in the area, health teams transported E.K. to the hospital after the first intervention. The man, whose stomach was pumped at the hospital, is still receiving treatment.
"HIS PSYCHOLOGY WAS AFFECTED DUE TO HIS DEBTS"
A citizen named Cengiz Kula, who runs a business in the area, stated, "His former partner called me. They had called an ambulance and said, 'check what’s wrong with him.' So, I called my friend who works at a phone shop. He went to check on him. He said, 'I’m dying, save me.' The police and ambulance arrived. He was taken to the hospital. We learned that his stomach was pumped. As far as I know, he had debts. His machines were seized due to his debts. After that, his psychology deteriorated," he said.
"HE SAID HE DRANK CYANIDE"
Haluk Aydın, who spoke about the moments that occurred, said, "A friend called me in the morning. He asked, 'How is the sock maker, can you check?' So, I went to check, he was fine. Later, he came out to the street and fell to the ground. He said, 'Call an ambulance.' I asked, 'What’s wrong?' He said, 'I’m vomiting, my head hurts.' When the health teams arrived and asked what he drank, he said he drank 'cyanide.' He mentioned that he was defrauded last year and had a lot of debt," he said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
