A debate over "messenger" took place between İYİ Party member Turhan Çömez and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Pervin Buldan. Çömez said to Buldan, "Last week we learned that you have a duty to carry messages, to act as a messenger. You have no responsibility to carry the messages of the despicable terrorist who has massacred our people to Turkey." Buldan's response to these remarks was quite harsh.
There was a debate about "messenger" between İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez and TBMM Deputy Chairman Pervin Buldan, who is also part of the Imralı delegation, in the TBMM General Assembly.
"WE DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD TWO HATS"
Çömez from the İYİ Party reacted to Buldan's remarks in the General Assembly, where she conveyed the criticisms made by the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan regarding the media's language last week. Addressing Buldan, Çömez said, "Madam Chair, we knew you had two hats. One is the Deputy Chair of the Assembly, the other is being a member of parliament, and you are currently sitting in Atatürk's chair." He stated that Buldan has a very important role in a Parliament that managed Turkey's struggle for independence established on the battlefields.
"THE MESSAGES OF THE COWARD TERRORIST..."
Çömez said, "However, last week we learned that you also had a duty to carry messages, to act as a messenger. You visited Imralı and during your meetings there, you conveyed a message to the public. You have no responsibility to carry the messages of a coward terrorist who has killed 50,000 people, martyred our police, soldiers, teachers, and village guards, and massacred our people. You cannot do this; it is extremely wrong."
PERVİN BULDAN GOT VERY ANGRY
Following Çömez's remarks, tensions rose. TBMM Deputy Chairman Buldan, without waiting for Çömez to finish, responded, "I reject your words. No one can give you such a right. I will never accept disrespect to this podium, disrespect to a person. This is not your right. You cannot speak. If I am doing something, I am doing it not as a messenger, but for the future of Turkey, for the peace of this country."
"YOU CANNOT TOLERATE ME"
Reacting to being interrupted, Çömez stood up and said, "You cannot tolerate my speech."
A BREAK WAS GIVEN TO THE SESSION
Buldan called for a 15-minute break in the session and invited the group deputy chairpersons of the political parties to the meeting room behind the Presidency Board.
