French referee Clement Turpin, who blew the whistle in the quarter-final match where our National Team bid farewell to EURO 2024 with a 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands, took away our semi-final ticket with his decisions. Turpin ignored three red cards that should have been given to the Netherlands and also did not award us a penalty. The French referee also turned a blind eye to the clear foul before the Netherlands' second goal.
In the quarter-final match of the 2024 European Football Championship, our National Football Team was defeated 2-1 by the Netherlands, and was subjected to many wrong decisions by referee Clement Turpin.
RED CARD WAS MISSED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MATCH
At the very beginning of the match, Barış Alper Yılmaz, who wanted to move behind the defense, fell to the ground in a challenge with Stefan de Vrij. Despite Stefan de Vrij pulling his shirt and interfering with his feet, referee Turpin missed a clear red card by not giving a foul.
XAVI SIMONS WAS NOT SENT OFF
In the first half of the match, when the score was 0-0, Xavi Simons stepped on Mert Müldür's cheekbone and was inexplicably punished with a yellow card, and another red card was overlooked.
HE DIDN'T GIVE OUR CLEAR PENALTY
In the second half of the match, when our National Team was leading 1-0, after Kenan Yıldız's shot deflected off the goalkeeper, Kaan Ayhan moved towards the ball but was brought down by Weghorst, and couldn't put the ball into the net from the mouth of the goal. Turpin, who did not give a foul or penalty for Weghorst's clear intervention on Kaan, prevented the game from getting out of hand.
HE DIDN'T CALL THE OBVIOUS FOUL BEFORE THE SECOND GOAL
Cody Gakpo, who sent the ball into the net at the back post before the Netherlands' second goal, made clear contact with Mert Müldür's leg before the goal, but neither referee Turpin nor VAR referee Brisard considered the position as a foul.
ANOTHER RED CARD WAS OVERLOOKED
In the final moments of the match, Micky van de Ven clearly stepped on Samet Akaydin's foot, causing him to get injured and leave the game. However, the referee team overlooked it and the Netherlands finished the match with 11 players instead of 8, which they should have had.
