Fire crews dispatched to the scene upon reports from bystanders brought Yılmaz down from the pole, but health teams confirmed he had passed away. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
55-year-old Mehmet Yılmaz, who climbed an electricity pole for repair in the Kocaali district of Sakarya, died after being electrocuted. Yılmaz, who remained motionless on the pole, was brought down by the efforts of fire brigade teams.
The incident occurred around 17:30 yesterday on Selçuk Bey Street, Alandere Neighborhood, Kocaali district.
CLIMBED THE POLE FOR REPAIR
Mehmet Yılmaz (55), known to operate an electrical shop in the district, climbed the electricity pole to perform repairs. Yılmaz was electrocuted while working.
Those around who saw Yılmaz motionless on the pole reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, health, police, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area.
FIRE BRIGADE TEAMS BROUGHT HIM DOWN FROM THE POLE
Fire brigade teams arriving at the scene brought Yılmaz down from the pole where he was. Health teams determined that the 55-year-old Yılmaz had lost his life during the check.
Yılmaz's body was taken to the hospital morgue after examinations at the scene. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
