Following the school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, a provocative post by a high school student in Zonguldak on social media put the police on alert. B.T.A., 17, who shared a threatening photo in a WhatsApp group referencing other attacks, was detained by the swift intervention of security forces. During a search of his home, blank bullets were seized, and the student described the incident as a "joke" in his defense at the police station.

Following the school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, security measures across all of Turkey were raised to the highest level. Meanwhile, in Zonguldak, a high school student's post in a WhatsApp group put security forces on alert. B.T.A., aged 17, who shared a threatening photo referencing attacks in other provinces, was detained in an operation conducted by police teams.

BLANK CARTRIDGES FOUND IN HIS HOME

Acting on the instructions of the Zonguldak Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Juvenile Branch Directorate raided the suspect's address. During the search of the house, 6 blank pistol cartridges were found inside the closet in B.T.A.'s room. The suspect's mobile phone, used to make the posts, was confiscated for examination.

HIS DEFENSE WAS SHOCKING: I WANTED TO MAKE A JOKE

During his preliminary interview at the police station, B.T.A.'s statements defending himself were 'unbelievable'. The youth claimed he sent the threatening messages to his friends 'with the intention of making a joke' and asserted that the cartridges found in his room were brought from his village as a 'souvenir'.

HIS DISCIPLINARY HISTORY WAS 'EVENTFUL'

Investigations revealed that the suspect had previously engaged in actions disrupting school peace. It was learned that B.T.A. had set off a firecracker inside his classroom at his former school and was therefore transferred to his current high school by a disciplinary board decision.

The suspect, whose procedures at the Juvenile Branch Directorate have been completed, is expected to be referred to the courthouse.
