16-year-old Iqbal Sheikh, living in the city of Murshidabad in India's West Bengal state, tries to alleviate the severe burning and pain he feels on his skin with cool water. While no definitive diagnosis has been made for Iqbal's condition to date, his family's search for treatment continues.
HE SPENDS HIS DAY IN THE POND DUE TO THE BURNING SENSATION
It is stated that the health problem experienced by Iqbal Sheikh has been ongoing for approximately 5 years. The young man, who experiences an intense burning sensation on his skin, temporarily finds relief when he enters cool water. For this reason, he spends a significant part of his day in the pond in his region.
In the resulting images, Iqbal is also seen eating while a large part of his body is in the water. His family has been seeking a solution for years to determine the cause of the condition that seriously affects the young man's daily life.
THE FAMILY APPLIED TO MANY HOSPITALS
It was reported that Iqbal's family applied to various hospitals and also sought help from traditional healers to find a cure for their son's condition. However, despite these efforts, a definitive diagnosis has not yet been made.
The widespread reach of the images showing Iqbal's life spent in the water has moved the process to a different point.
ERYTHROMELALGIA IS BEING CONSIDERED AS A POSSIBILITY
It is stated that one of the possibilities evaluated by doctors due to Iqbal's symptoms is erythromelalgia. This rare condition can manifest itself with symptoms such as a burning sensation in the skin, redness, and increased temperature.
Erythromelalgia most commonly affects the feet, but it can also occur in different parts of the body. It is known that symptoms can worsen with factors such as increased temperature, and in some cases, genetic factors may play a role.
However, there is no confirmed diagnosis that Iqbal has erythromelalgia. It is aimed to determine the cause of the condition after comprehensive tests to be conducted in Mumbai and to prepare a treatment plan accordingly.
