A thief who attempted to steal 3 kilograms of gold and 100,000 lira from a jewelry store in a shopping mall in Adana and lived in the ventilation system for 3 days has been sent to court. It was reported that the suspect stated in his testimony that he came to the shopping mall to change clothes and decided to commit the robbery after seeing the construction site next to the jewelry store.
On the night of February 2, an incident occurred at a shopping mall in the Yüreğir district, where an individual entered the mall, took 3 kilograms of gold and 100,000 TL from the jeweler, and disappeared, prompting the police to go on alert. Later, it was determined that the thief was in the mall's ventilation system. Additionally, it was found that the thief had thrown away the stolen gold and money while escaping.
CAUGHT 3 DAYS LATER
The suspect, Felit B., was caught last night after jumping down from the ventilation of a café in the mall and was apprehended by the police after exiting the mall and heading to Kozan Bazaar.
ENTERED THE JEWELRY STORE BY BREAKING THROUGH THE WALL
The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning. In his statement, he mentioned that on the day of the incident, he came to the mall to change clothes and saw the construction next to the jeweler, which led him to decide to commit the robbery. He waited for the night, hid in the construction site, broke through the wall to enter the jeweler, took the gold, but when the alarm went off, he threw the gold away and went up to the ventilation. He also stated that he couldn't read any news because his phone was broken and that he had gone without food and water for 3 days.
ATTEMPTED TO ESCAPE MANY TIMES BUT FAILED
Additionally, it was determined that the suspect claimed he decided to commit theft due to his poor financial situation and that he had a surgical mask and a bag with him. After escaping to the ventilation, the thief attempted to escape many times during the night but could not because of the police presence. At one point, he tried to force the emergency exit, and these moments were captured by security cameras. After his statement, Felit B. was referred to the courthouse. The owner of the jewelry store filed a complaint against the thief.
