Hungarian politician Peter Magyar, who previously shared the personalized Magnum pistol gifted by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the NATO Summit, has now posed in front of a painting depicting himself and Viktor Orban pointing guns at each other like cowboys. "I received the strangest gift of my life from the Turkish President," said Magyar, adding, "This painting, made in 2024, has now gained a new meaning."

The Magnum pistols, engraved with the names of recipients, which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gifted to some leaders during the NATO Leaders Summit in Ankara, brought about different practices across Europe.

Due to countries' gun laws and security procedures, how leaders would keep the gifts became a topic of discussion; some took the pistols to their countries, while others handed them over to official institutions or left them temporarily in safekeeping.

SHOWED THE PISTOL IN HIS FIRST POST

Hungarian politician Peter Magyar, one of those who brought the gift to his country, had previously shared a photo of the pistol on his social media account.

In his first post, Magyar said, "An unusual gift from Turkish President Erdoğan at the NATO Summit. A Magnum pistol with my name engraved on it, along with its ammunition..."

THIS TIME MADE A REFERENCE TO THE PAINTING

Following his initial post, Magyar published a new striking post this time. In the photo, he posed in front of two paintings depicting himself and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán pointing guns at each other like cowboys.

Noting in his post, "I received the strangest gift of my life from the Turkish President," Magyar also referenced the 2024 painting, saying, "This painting made in 2024 now has a new meaning." Magyar's linking of the pistol gifted by Erdoğan to the painting drew attention.

SOME HANDED IT TO POLICE, SOME WILL DONATE TO A MUSEUM

The fate of the pistols Erdoğan gave to leaders varied from country to country. It was reported that Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever handed the pistol to airport police, while the gift given to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was held until customs procedures were completed.

It was stated that the gifts for the leaders of the Netherlands and Sweden were kept at their embassies in Ankara, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni placed the pistol under protection at the Prime Ministry building.

It was reported that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen plans to donate the gift to a military museum, while UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer could not bring the pistol with him due to legal regulations in his country.

MAGYAR'S SECOND STRIKING POST

While other leaders' gifts were subjected to official procedures, Peter Magyar's action of bringing the pistol to his country, first sharing a photo of the weapon, and then posting a pose in front of the painting where he and Orbán are depicted with guns, drew attention.

Magyar's post with the words "The strangest gift of my life" once again revealed that the gifts Erdoğan gave at the NATO Summit continue to be discussed in Europe.
