Canadian tourist Alex Soliman, who got into a taxi in Karakoy, Istanbul, claimed that he was robbed and wounded with a knife by two women in the vehicle. Soliman claimed that 6,500 liras were taken from him and 3,375 liras were forcibly withdrawn from his bank card via a POS device. While scratches were detected on both arms of the tourist who applied to the hospital, part of the incident was reflected on a mobile phone camera.
A tourist's taxi ride in Karaköy allegedly ended in robbery and a knife attack. Canadian Alex Soliman claimed that two women, who he alleged acted together with the taxi driver, took his money.
HE GOT INTO THE TAXI AND ENCOUNTERED 2 WOMEN INSIDE
The incident occurred around 00:00 in the Beyoğlu Karaköy neighborhood. According to the claim, Alex Soliman, who came to Istanbul from Canada, got into a taxi with license plate 34 TAE 35. Soliman stated that there were two women in the vehicle who introduced themselves as 'Aisha' and 'Eleanor'. The Canadian tourist claimed that the women locked the taxi doors and robbed him of 6,500 lira.
HE CLAIMED 3,375 LIRA WAS WITHDRAWN VIA THE POS DEVICE
Soliman's allegations did not stop there. The tourist alleged that the taxi driver did not turn on the taximeter and that a transaction of 3,375 lira was forcefully made from his bank card using a POS device. Soliman took a screenshot of the bank records regarding the transaction. It was learned that the transaction was disputed with the bank. According to the tourist's claim, in this way, in addition to the 6,500 lira taken in cash, a transaction of 3,375 lira was also made from his card.
ALLEGEDLY WOUNDED WITH A KNIFE WHILE TRYING TO GET HIS MONEY BACK
Alex Soliman objected to his money being taken and tried to prevent the suspects from leaving the area. According to the claim, during this time, one of the women wounded the tourist's arms with a knife she produced inside the taxi. Soliman also alleged that the taxi driver did not intervene in the events. It was claimed that the driver moved the vehicle and left the area along with the two women. Part of the incident was captured on a mobile phone camera.
FORENSIC CASE REPORT ISSUED AT THE HOSPITAL
After the incident, the Canadian tourist went to Taksim Training and Research Hospital and was examined. In the forensic case report issued, it was stated that Soliman had scratches of approximately 10 centimeters on his right forearm and 2 centimeters on his left wrist. It was noted that the tourist's life was not in danger.
