In Samsun, a 5-year-old girl who lunged toward the rails at a tram stop was saved from disaster by a security guard's split-second move. The heroic guard, Muhammet Lafçı, who grabbed the child by her shirt and saved her from being run over at the last moment, said, 'My own daughter came to mind; I pulled her without hesitating, risking my life.'

Describing the moment, Lafçı said, "With a sudden reflex, I imagined my own daughter in front of my eyes, and I saved her without heeding my own life."
PREVENTED THE DISASTER AT THE LAST MOMENT
Muhammet Lafçı, a security guard working under SAMULAŞ, affiliated with Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, prevented a major disaster at the Cumhuriyet Square Tram Stop in the İlkadım district. Noticing a young girl running toward the pedestrian crossing where a moving tram was located, Lafçı raced against seconds, grabbed the child by her shirt, and pulled her back. Those dangerous moments, when the tram driver also applied sudden brakes, were captured second by second on the stop's security cameras.
"I IMAGINED MY OWN DAUGHTER IN FRONT OF MY EYES"
Muhammet Lafçı, the heroic security guard sharing the horror and feelings he experienced at the moment of the incident, stated that his reflexes saved a life: "During my duty, I noticed a child around 5 years old jumping in front of the tram. At that moment, with a sudden reflex, I imagined my own daughter in front of my eyes and saved her without heeding my own life. I feel very much at peace morally. I saved her with a sudden reflex, and truly, my hands and feet were shaking. No harm came to our little girl. The family was very upset at that moment and thanked me. They were also in shock over the incident. They said they saw the girl slip from their hands all of a sudden and that I saved her."
"DON'T WEAR HEADPHONES, BE CAREFUL"
Calling on citizens to be more careful when using tram lines, Lafçı emphasized the safety rules around the rail system:
- Distracting Factors: Lafçı stated that headphones should not be used and attention should be paid to the surroundings when crossing the tramway, reminding that security personnel may not notice every point at all times.
- Safety Message to Citizens: Expressing that security guards can sometimes be misunderstood, Lafçı added that as the SAMULAŞ family, they are always on duty to ensure public safety, comfortable travel, and access to lost belongings.
