An incredible theft incident that took place at two different wedding venues in Adana shocked everyone who heard about it, especially the bride and groom. A 48-year-old man, identified as S.E., entered the weddings pretending to be a guest, ate cake, and stole a cash necklace worth 100,000 TL. Those moments were captured second by second on the wedding cameras.
In the Yıldırım Beyazıt neighborhood of Kozan Street in the Sarıçam district of Adana, an incident occurred at two different wedding venues where the suspect S.E. first attended the wedding of the couple L.B. and İ.S.B.
THE CAMERA RECORDED EVERYTHING
During the gift ceremony, he told the guests, "Don't bother, I'll throw the envelope," and took the envelope filled with money. However, he threw an empty envelope into the gift box. The suspect stole approximately 60,000 TL using this method. A few days later, using a similar method, he also attended the wedding of the couple A.Ü. and S.Ü., where he served water to the groom and bride and displayed friendly behavior towards those around him. The suspect S.E. then took the money from the gift box under the pretext of "counting the money." After counting, he put the money in his pockets without drawing attention and left the hall. In the video recordings of both weddings, moments were captured where S.E. approached the box and took the money with a relaxed demeanor.
"I COULDN'T RESIST WHEN I SAW THE MONEY"
After the wedding, the couples reported the missing amounts to the police. The teams from the Public Security Branch Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau of the Provincial Police Department identified the suspect using facial recognition technology. The suspect was caught during an operation at his home. The individual taken to the police station stated in his testimony, "I saw there was a wedding, I went in, ate cake, and then when I saw the money during the gift ceremony, I couldn't resist and stole it. I took 6,000 TL and 200 dollars," it was learned.
The suspect S.E., who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
