The working conditions in the private security sector, which concern hundreds of thousands of employees across Turkey, have been brought back to the agenda by a security guard's plaintive call on social media. The employee's words, expressing his financial difficulties and professional challenges, resonated widely on digital platforms.
"WE CANNOT SPEND TIME WITH OUR CHILDREN"
The security worker, emphasizing that their wages are insufficient against the high cost of living, complained about the long working hours and the inability to allocate time for family life. Expressing his desperation, the employee drew attention to the severity of the working conditions with the words, "Most of us live in rental homes. The money we earn only covers the rent and bills, and we work 12 hours. We cannot spend time with our children or our family."
REACTION TO THE PERCEPTION THAT "SECURITY GUARDS JUST SIT"
The aggrieved employee also touched upon the existing professional prejudices against security guards in society, stating that they are being wronged.
